Morten HjulmandSporting midfielder, should be a starter in Denmark’s match against Switzerland, in a preparatory game for the final phase of the 2024 European Championship. According to the Nordic press, the number 42 jersey from Clube de Alvalade should grab a place in Kasper’s starting team Hjulmand, after having given strong praise to the Lions footballer.
The footballer has, so far, only three international appearances, the first of which was last September 2023, when he already represented Sporting and was a starter in the last match against Northern Ireland. He now points to yet another achievement in the service of his national team.
Morten Hjulmand He arrived at Sporting at the beginning of this season, from Lecce, in exchange for 18 million euros, plus 3 upon meeting some previously stipulated objectives, becoming one of the most expensive signings in the history of the team led by Rúben Amorim. The midfielder has a contract with Clube de Alvalade until June 2028 and a release clause of 80 million euros.
Until now, Morten Hjulmand – valued at 26 million euros – has enchanted both Rúben Amorim, coach of the lions, and the fans, having played 34 games (2,429 minutes): 20 in the Liga Portugal Betclic (1,524), eight in the Europa League (494), four in the Taça de Portugal (231) and two in the League Cup (180). The midfielder has two goals (Moreirense and Rio Ave) and three assists (Rio Ave, Dumiense and Casa Pia).
Sporting will return to the field on March 29, against Estrela da Amadora, in a match related to the 27th round of the Liga Portugal Betclic. After the friendly commitments, Morten Hjulmand should return to his usual position in Rúben Amorim’s team together with Hidemasa Morita.
