In a statement, the GNR said that “Operation Easter 2024” aims to combat crime, contribute to reducing road accidents, regularize traffic and support citizens.

“The inspection period for the greatest road patrol effort, on the most critical roads, will be between the beginning of March 28 [quinta-feira] and April 1st, the period when the highest volume of traffic is expected”, indicates the GNR.

As part of the operation, the guard advises “attentive, cautious and defensive driving, adapting speed to weather conditions, the condition of the road and the volume of road traffic, avoiding dangerous maneuvers, excessive speed and not driving under the influence of the alcohol and psychotropic substances”.

The GNR also draws attention to the misuse of cell phones and incorrect or non-use of seat belts and/or child restraint systems and the safety conditions of vehicles.
