The athlete from Casa do Povo de Mangualde, Miguel Monteiro, won the World Para Athletics Grand Prix gold medal, which took place in Jesolo, Italy. The Paralympic athlete threw the weight again and stood out from the rest by managing to surpass the 11 meter mark. Miguel Monteiro managed 11.02 meters and, in the end, was the best in the race, bringing Mangualde a new gold medal in an international event.
The Mangualdense athlete continues to secure the world record for the F40 shot put, achieved in Pombal, at the Portuguese Indoor Track Championships. At that time, Miguel Monteiro launched and reached the mark of 11.60 meters. The athlete is number 1 in the world rankings.
In the event on Italian soil, which took place this weekend, the athlete from Casa do Povo de Mangualde Cristiano Pereira achieved the silver medal in the 1500 meters with a time of 4 minutes, 15 seconds and 95 hundredths.
