Xiaomi is approaching its debut in the electric car market. This Monday (25), the company’s CEO, Lei Jun, announced on Weibo that the company’s Xiaomi SU7 will cost less than 500 yuan (R$346 thousand, in direct conversion) and will be “the most beautiful, most easier to drive and smarter.”

The official announcement of the company’s first car is about to take place on Thursday (28) and, on the same day, pre-sales will begin. Currently, the Xiaomi SU7 is displayed in 29 cities in China.

Guarantee a competitive price It is very important to position Xiaomi in the electric car market, especially if the vehicle is launched in markets other than China. There, the Xiaomi SU7 will compete directly with Tesla cars, but with the appeal and advantage of being a national company.

In addition to Elon Musk’s brand, there are other competitors in the region, such as BYD, Nio, Xpeng and Li Auto — all in the premium electronic vehicle sector.

“Three years ago, I announced that Xiaomi would enter the electric vehicle market. This is my latest venture — I’m putting my reputation on the line to fight for a vision I deeply believed in,” said Lei Jun in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

According to the CEO, Interested consumers will be able to test-drive the vehicle from Thursday (28). “This will be the first important step for Xiaomi EV, a battle I set out to win. To global fans, I’m inviting all of you to join me on the XiaomiEVLaunch live stream on March 28th,” added the CEO on X.

Meet the Xiaomi SU7

The first appearance of the Xiaomi SU7 took place in December 2023 at an event held in China. At this first conference, two models were presented: the Xiaomi SU7 and the Xiaomi SU7 Max, two variants of the vehicle, with different specifications.

However, there are rumors that the company intends to launch four editions of the vehicle. A recent leak pointed out that the SU7 Pro and SU7 FE models will also be part of the line, offering more options for consumers.
