A 30-year-old woman died during a breast lift carried out by a doctor who was banned from practicing in Mallorca, Spain. The same surgeon was convicted of the death of another woman following liposuction, as reported this Wednesday by the TheMirror.
The young model traveled to Spain specifically for surgery, but ended up suffering a cardiac arrest in the operating room. She was taken to intensive care where she remained for almost two weeks, but eventually died.
After an investigation, it was found that the director of the clinic and responsible for the intervention was unable to operate because he was linked to the involuntary homicide of another woman, aged 45, due to liposuction, in 2017. The 69-year-old doctor was arrested for a year.
At the time, the court pointed to medical negligence as the cause of the victim’s cardiac arrest and bleeding. The court ordered three years of suspension from medical duties, with the period coming into effect in the summer of last year.
