Security cameras captured the moment of the accident when a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS crashes into a Renault Sandero on Avenida Salim Farah Malufin the Tatuapé region, east of São Paulo, in the early hours of Sunday, 31.
According to the Civil Police, the luxury car, valued at around R$1 million, was driven by businessman Fernando Sastre de Andrade Filho, aged 24. He is wanted for manslaughter and culpable bodily harm driving a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident. The driver of the other vehicle, a 52-year-old app driver, did not survive the collision.
The app driver, Ornaldo Viana, 52 years old, who drove the Sandero, was rescued with a cardiorespiratory arrest and taken to Tatuapé Hospital. He died from “multiple trauma”.
Lawyer Carine Acardo Garcia, who defends Fernando, stated that he will report to the police station, but did not determine the exact date. She said he is in a “state of shock.” An official statement from the defender should be made this Monday, 1st.
From the images, it is possible to see the violence of the collision, which took both cars to the avenue. One of them hits the light pole, which causes an immediate loss of electricity in the block.
According to a report made by witnesses to the Civil Police, the businessman in the luxury car was traveling at high speed along the avenue, which has a speed limit of 50 km/h. When overtaking, he would have lost control of the Porsche and crashed into the back of the white Sandero. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the Civil Police.
Andrade Filho had help from his mother to leave the area of the accident. In the incident report, police officers who responded to the case state that the businessman’s mother went to the scene and said she would take her son to Hospital São Luiz, in Ibirapuera, south zone, to treat a wound in the mouth.
When the agents went to the hospital to do a breathalyzer test and get their version of the accident, they didn’t find either of them.
Carine Acardo Garcia, Andrade Filho’s lawyer, stated that she would not comment officially. “We’re going to find out about the case and probably tell me today (Monday, 1st),” she said. According to the defender, her client is in a state of “shock” and will report to the police station.
Civil police officers interviewed by the report under secrecy said that the military police took almost five hours to report the fatal accident to the police station.
Ombudsman Claudio Silva told the Estadão that the Civil Police Ombudsman’s Office will contact the Military Police Internal Affairs this Monday, 1st, to investigate the conduct of the agents.
The ministry states that it will analyze the “dynamics of the occurrence to identify any errors in operational procedures”. The secretariat did not specify how long it took between the PM’s arrival at the scene and the incident being recorded.
