Instagram crashed | Network disconnects accounts and prevents new login

It’s not an April 1st prank: Instagram is unstable for many people this Monday afternoon (1st). One of the main errors pointed out by the public on social networks is the difficulty in logging into the platform, but the app also has problems loading content.

On X (formerly Twitter), many users complained that their respective Instagram accounts were disconnected for no apparent reason — a problem very similar to what happened at the end of March. Furthermore, there are complaints that the app does not allow you to perform basic actions, such as sending a Story or sending audios in DMs.

Sites that analyze errors on digital platforms also point to problems with the social network in the last few hours. Downdetector recorded a spike in complaints at 3:43 pm today (Brasília time), while Down for Everyone or Just Me reported problems from 3 pm.

Threads also with problems

Instagram’s sister app, Threads, also had some problems today: the platform also had a spike in complaints on Downdetector, with reports of problems sending new posts.

Since both networks use the Instagram framework (you can only log into Threads with your Instagram account, for example), a general issue is likely to affect both products. So far, Meta has not commented on the case.
