HispanTV – Iran calls for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council after an attack by the Israeli regime on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Syria.

After the deadly air strike by the Israeli regime against the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, in the Syrian capital, Iran’s deputy representative at the United Nations (UN), Zahra Ershadi, sent a letter to the president pro tempore of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres.

In the letter, Iran’s deputy envoy to the UN urged the Security Council to condemn this criminal act in the strongest possible terms and to hold an emergency meeting to address the flagrant violation of the rules and principles of international law by the Zionist regime Israeli.

“This correspondence was prepared following the clear violation of the norms and principles of international law by the Israeli regime. The occupying regime of Israel launched a heinous and hateful terrorist attack against the diplomatic facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Syrian Arab Republic. On the afternoon of April 1, 2024, at 4:45 pm (local time), the diplomatic facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus were the target of Israeli air and missile strikes from the occupied Golan Heights,” the letter states.

Likewise, remember that this “terrorist attack” by the Israeli regime caused the tragic martyrdom of several Iranian officials, including senior military advisors, and the complete destruction of Iran’s diplomatic facilities.

“These heinous crimes and cowardly terrorist attacks are flagrant violations of the Charter of the United Nations, international law and the basic principle of the immunity of diplomatic and consular facilities,” the diplomat of the Islamic Republic of Iran said in the letter.

Iran’s ambassador to Syria guarantees that the Persian nation will give a decisive response to the Israeli attack on its consulate building in Damascus.

Under the Convention on Diplomatic Relations 1961, the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations and the 1973 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons, including Diplomatic Agents, these horrific crimes also threaten peace and security in the region.

“Given the far-reaching international consequences of these heinous crimes, which threaten to exacerbate tensions in the region and potentially lead to new conflicts with other countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran calls on the Security Council to put an end to criminal and terrorist attacks and vehemently condemns the act of the Zionist regime”, he stated.

Iran’s deputy representative at the UN emphasized that, “furthermore, the Islamic Republic calls on the Security Council to take all necessary measures, including holding an urgent meeting to address this serious violation and prevent future aggressive actions that put endangering the security of diplomatic missions, and also ensuring that those responsible for such criminal actions are swiftly brought to justice.”

Specifying that the aggressor Zionist regime is fully responsible for the consequences of these terrorist crimes, the Iranian official warned that “the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its legitimate and inherent right, based on international law and the Charter of the United Nations, to respond decisively to such terrorist acts.”

Iran emphasizes that it reserves the right to take reciprocal measures against Israel for the attack on the building of the Persian country’s consulate in Damascus, the Syrian capital.

At the end of her letter, Iran’s deputy representative asked the president of the UN Security Council to register the letter and distribute it as a Security Council document.

Iran stressed that it reserves the right to take reciprocal measures against Israel for the attack on the building of the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus .

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, while maintaining the right to take reciprocal measures, will decide the type of response and punishment for the aggressor,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Naser Kanani said on Monday.

In turn, Iran’s ambassador to Syria, Hosein Akbari, guaranteed that the Iranian nation will give a decisive response to the Israeli attack on its consulate building in Damascus.

“After all these crimes against the Palestinian people over the last six months, today [Israel] committed this crime against Iran (…). This action will have our decisive response”, warned the Iranian diplomat.
