Victims who died in an accident with an ambulance and a truck on a highway in the interior of SP are identified | Itapetininga and Region

The patient Tiago Batista Nicolete39 years old, who was undergoing rehabilitation at Lucy Montoro Hospital, in Sorocaba (SP), and his wife, Cássia Cristina de Oliveira Nicoleteaged 42, who was with him, died at the scene of the accident.

The third victim, identified as Gloria Carvalho, 57 years old, was also in the ambulance as a companion. Her 58-year-old husband is undergoing medical treatment in Sorocaba and is hospitalized in serious condition.

The ambulance driver, aged 53, was rescued and is under observation at Léo Orsi Bernardes Hospital, in Itapetininga. The truck driver did not suffer any injuries.

The City of Itapeva (SP) published an official note about the accident. In the document, the Executive informs that the bodies of the victims were sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) of Sorocaba and will return to Itapeva this Tuesday.

“In this moment of pain and consternation, we express our most sincere condolences to the bereaved families and make available all necessary support. The competent authorities are carrying out the appropriate procedures to investigate the circumstances of the accident. The City of Itapeva sympathizes with all involved and reinforces its commitment to the safety and well-being of all residents”, says the note.

According to the Military Highway Police, the collision occurred at kilometer 159 of the Professor Francisco da Silva Pontes Highway (SP-127), when the ambulance driver was unable to brake in time and hit the back of the truck.

Accident between ambulance and truck causes deaths on Itapetininga highway

With the impact, three people who were in the ambulance died and two were rescued and taken to the emergency room in Itapetininga in serious condition. The truck driver was not injured. The road was partially closed.

According to the police, the ambulance left Itapeva for Sorocaba to take the patients, along with their companions, to routine appointments.
