Gisela Gaytán, candidate for mayor of Celaya, a city in Mexico, was shot dead last Monday (1st) while campaigning in a community.
The candidate had just presented the strategic security plan at a rally. According to authorities, armed men arrived at the scene shooting and the woman died instantly.
The Guanajuato attorney general’s office said it is investigating the murder. No arrests were made.

So far, the motivation for the crime is still unclear to the Mexican police. However, the main suspicion is that the crime is linked to the faction dispute in the territory.
Mexico is involved in a harsh security crisis. Dozens of politicians and candidates were killed before the 2021 midterm elections.
