Man invades jury, shoots his father’s killer and is detained in Pernambuco

Security cameras recorded the moment when a man invaded a jury session, on the morning of Wednesday, 29, and shot the man accused of killing his father in 2012, in São José do Belmonte, in the interior of Pernambuco. He was arrested in the act, and the victim was hospitalized.

According to the Court of Justice of Pernambuco, the case took place in the Single Court of the city’s district. In the images from surveillance cameras, it is possible to see Cristiano Alves Terto, son of Francisco Alves Terto — who was allegedly murdered by Francisco Cleidivaldo Mariano de Moura — sitting next to a woman, while watching the trial.

As Cristiano moved towards the defendant, Francisco and the other people who were at the scene realized what was happening and went into hiding.
Cristiano then managed to get close to his father’s alleged killer and shot him six times. Francisco fell and sought refuge behind the magistrates’ bench.

After the shots, Cristiano shot Francisco in the head, while two women (one of whom was his companion) tried to restrain him. After the crime, Francisco and the woman who accompanied him left the room, while the other girl closed the door.

After shooting the defendant, the suspect was pursued by police officers who were in the Forum and also by the Civil Police until he was arrested. He was taken to the municipal police station and charged in the act.
Francisco Cleidivaldo was taken to the São José do Belmonte Hospital and, later, transferred to the Serra Talhada Hospital, where he is under medical care.
Last Thursday, the 30th, in a custody hearing held at the Serra Talhada Custody Hearing Center, the shooter’s arrest in the act was converted into preventive detention. He will be taken to the São José do Belmonte Public Prison.
