Gol suspends transport of pets in the basement after death of Golden Retriever

A Gol took the decision to suspend the service of transporting dogs and cats in the hold of aircraft for a period of 30 days, starting today (24). A measure was adopted after the tragic death of a Golden Retriever dog, five years old, last Monday (22) due to an operational failure during boarding, which occurred in the service provided by Gollog, a company associated with the airline. The purpose of the suspension is to allow the investigation of the case to be completed.

According to information from Gol, Golden died during air transport and underwent necropsy examinations at a veterinary hospital. The results of the reports are still being prepared and will be analyzed by the authorities responsible for the investigation.

The incident involved the dog, called Joca, who was supposed to board flight 1480 on Monday to Sinop, Mato Grosso, but was sent to Fortaleza, Ceará, by mistake. Joca’s tutor, João Fantazzini, expressed his sadness and held Gol responsible for what happened, sharing his pain on social media.

As part of the response to the situation, Gol chose to suspend the sale of the service for transporting dogs and cats in the hold of aircraft for a month. The affected services are Gollog Animals and Dog&Cat + Espaço, while the Dog&Cat Cabine service, for pets in the plane cabin, remains unchanged.

For customers who have already contracted the transportation of their pets between April 24th and May 23rd, Gol offers options for a full refund or for postponing the trip at no additional cost until December 31st, 2024. The company guarantees that customers who are at their destinations and have restricted services contracted for their return will be attended to according to their choice.
