A new investigation has been opened to find out if there are others involved in the crime. Witnesses have already been summoned to give statements at the police station.
They were indicted Leandro Machadowho is a military police officer, Eduardo Sobreira Moraes It is Cezar Daniel Mondêgo de Souza. The three are arrested.
The investigation was sent this Wednesday (24) to the Public Ministry of Rio, which will follow up on the case and may report the trio to the courts.
The motivation for the murder is still considered uncertain, but the Homicide Police are investigating whether the victim’s connections with the online betting sector could be related to the crime.

Understand the participation of each of the accused:
Leandro Machado da Silva: military police officer who, according to investigations, provided the cars used in the crime.
Cezar Daniel Mondego de Souza: appointed as responsible for monitoring the victim. He had a commissioned position with a salary of up to R$6,000 in the Legislative Assembly of RJ (Alerj).
Eduardo Sobreira Moraes: He is identified by the police as the person responsible for following in Rodrigo’s footsteps, driving the car for Cezar while they monitored the victim’s movements before the murder.
PMs qualified in rental companies
The Civil Police have already obtained several pieces of information linking the targets that have already been arrested to others being investigated by the Capital’s DH.
According to the decision of the 3rd Criminal Court that authorized searches against the targets, Vitor Hugo used a vehicle rented from the Horizonte 16 rental company, the same one where the cars used to monitor Rodrigo Marinho Crespo’s steps were rented before the crime.
Two other PMs investigated were authorized to pick up vehicles that were rented from the rental company.
Vitor Hugo and two other PMs investigated by DH work in the same battalion as Leandro Machado, the 15th BPM (Duque de Caxias), where the former military police officer also worked Rafael do Nascimento Dutra, the Soulless. Machado and Sem Alma appear in a photo together, at a birthday party.

The target of one of the search warrants was already approached carrying cigarettes and claimed that he was providing services for the company SulAmericana, from Duque de Caxias, Adilsinho’s area of origin. He also has other criminal notes relating to the crime of cigarette smuggling.
The same target, accompanied by another person being investigated, was indicted for illegal possession of a firearm, in a 2020 investigation. The two were armed, in the municipality of São Fidélis, with cigarette boxes.
One of the targets has links to Cláudio Oliveira Coutinho, Adilsinho’s brother. The two were investigated for participation in the cigarette mafia in Rio de Janeiro, but the investigation was blocked by the STJ in the past. Cláudio Oliveira Coutinho was not searched in connection with the investigation into Rodrigo’s death.
One of the military police officers is named in the investigation as personal security for one of Cláudio’s partners.
When contacted, Adilsinho’s defense stated that businessman Adilson Coutinho Filho is “innocent and denies any involvement with the facts investigated.” Cláudio Coutinho’s defense did not want to comment.
