Last year, he was sentenced to six years and three months in prison for “corruption on Earth”, but avoided the death penalty. This happened after a decision by the Supreme Court, which found “flaws in the original sentence” and passed the case on to a lower court to investigate again.

The first section of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court ruled contrary to what had been judged by the Supreme Court. They accused the rapper of “assistance in sedition, assembly and collusion, propaganda against the system and calling for riots.” The Iranian judiciary has not yet confirmed the sentence and the rapper has 20 days to appeal the decision.

It’s not the rapper’s first arrest. The singer, who alleged torture in jail, had already been arrested in September 2021. He was taken by agents after releasing songs about corruption, poverty, executions and violence against protesters.

On social media before his arrest, the rapper even made an outburst. “You should know that I am not afraid of death, prison and torture. I am afraid of seeing women sell their bodies out of necessity and be forced to shut up. I am afraid of seeing people bow down and remain silent… There is a sea of blood between you and me.”
