Investing.com – Investors are paying attention to the earnings season in Brazil and the United States, with repercussions of financial data for the first quarter of this year and the payment of extraordinary dividends by Petrobras. Additionally, they wait for the Fed’s preferred inflation indicator, the price index.

The consensus expectation is that the core PCE price index will rise 0.3% in the month, the same increase as in February. The annualized rate is expected to rise to 2.6%, compared to an annual rate of 2.8% in the previous month.

“A surprisingly strong reading could keep pressure on the economy to maintain its fight against inflation, while a cooler-than-expected print would likely increase buzz about a rate cut,” points out Jesse Cohen, an analyst at Investing.com.

During the results season, Hypera (BVMF:) releases indicators this Friday, as well as Chevron (NYSE:), Exxon Mobil (NYSE:), TotalEnergies (NYSE:) and other companies. “Yesterday, the results of Alphabet (NASDAQ:) and Microsoft (NASDAQ:) came above expectations, causing an increase of more than 11 and 4% in the companies’ shares before the market opened, respectively”, highlights XP Investimentos (BVMF :).

— The Broad National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15), considered the preview of official inflation, rose 0.21% in April, below the consensus expectation of 0.29%, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

Tax Reform — The 26.5% rate provided for in the text regulations must be divided between 8.8% federal tax and 17.7% state tax.

Hunger — 24.4 million people emerged from hunger last year in the country, reported the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

Executive and Legislative — President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva had 74% fewer meetings with parliamentarians than Bolsonaro, Estadão found.
