“Nowadays there are a lot of girls who skate there. In the Nescau League, the whole region brought together the whole region and all the girls who skate went there. It had been a while since I trained at the old rink, so I didn’t know who was skating or who had already started. Then, seeing all those girls who showed up to have fun was something very special”, he highlighted.

“I really saw myself in those girls. I thought: ‘Man, have I ever been through this? Participating in a little championship, riding in another, learning different maneuvers like that’. I looked at them and told them not to give up, because I went through all this and I know it’s possible”, he added.

Rayssa remembered her main inspiration, also Brazilian Letícia Bufoni, and highlighted the importance of encouraging sport among children and teenagers.

“Since I was little, I watched videos of her skateboarding, competing. It was really beautiful to see all that. I admired her style, the way she dressed, you know? The way she walked was very different. She inspired me. So being inspiration for other girls is very special, because it also motivates me to continue competing, skating”, she said.

Gold and Greece

Rayssa has two dreams she would really like to fulfill: Olympic gold and a trip to Greece. To help in her quest for first place on the podium at the Paris Olympics, the Brazilian has already warned that she is practicing unprecedented maneuvers.
