The biggest difference is that LED (Light Emitting Diodes) in LED TV only refers to the backlight that allows viewers to see the image on their television. LED screens do not project or create the image that people see. Instead, they work in conjunction with a transparent LCD panel, because LCD panels do not project their own light. They both need each other.

OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) televisions, on the other hand, create the image and emit light to project it to the audience. There is no separate backlight, which allows them to be thinner than other TVs on the market. However, this type of technology comes at a high price.
