“Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss have revealed more about their time on the popular series.

David Benioff and DB Weiss were responsible for “Game of Thrones”, a fantasy series based on the work of George RR Martin, who has not yet finished writing the story. The showrunners of the HBO Max series had a very close relationship with Martin, where the author could influence the plot. However, with the last two seasons there was a rift between the showrunners and Martin, leading to that last season leaving fans very disappointed.

“Game of Thrones” has always been known for being a series that never avoided death, although there were more deaths of heroes than of villains, such as the death of Ned Stark (Sean Bean), who triggered the war, or that of his son Robb Stark (Richard Madden), or that of Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa). However, in the end the villains were killed, although some of the deaths were more satisfying than others (I’m looking at you, Cersei).

Both David Benioff and DB Weiss did not return to the world of Westeros with the premiere of “House of the Dragon”, a series that follows the events of the Dance of the Dragons, or other series from this universe that are in development. The two are now the showrunners of one of Netflix’s new series, “3 Body Problem”.

The two were part of the new episode of the podcast “Happy Sad Confused”, where, in addition to promoting their new series, they were unable to escape questions about “Game of Thrones”. One of the questions was about what her favorite death was, where Weiss revealed: “With Thrones, there was a lot of hero death, and we finally got to kill off Joffrey, in season four, and Ramsay Bolton in season six. It was fun to return to the joy of killing the bad guys.”

The death of Ramsay Bolton was considered, by the showrunners, as a balancing of the scales, although it is not seen completely, as happened with the deaths of other characters. Benioff, regarding Bolton’s death, revealed: “You don’t see death itself. (…) What you see is Sophie’s (Sansa Stark) smile. It was all filmed in one take, we did it about seven times… She did it on the seventh or eighth time, and we had that feeling – this is epic. Sophie did so well. When she got the scene, I felt like if she had to die, she would go happy.”
