The ground invasion of the Hamad neighborhood, which is mostly residential and has around 5,000 inhabitants, was launched on March 3 when Israeli tanks surrounded the area and began destroying several infrastructures. At the same time, loudspeakers installed on drones asked the population to leave the area, according to the Palestinian agency Wafa.

The message transmitted by the Israeli drones stated: “To all residents of the city of Hamad, you are in a dangerous combat zone, the Israeli Army is operating nearby”. And he urged the population to move to the neighboring region of Al Mawasi and towards the city of Deir al Balah.

Medical sources indicated that, since the beginning of this Israeli military action, dozens of civilians have been killed in attacks and bombings against homes in this neighborhood financed by Qatar, according to the Wafa agency, in addition to the victims recorded “in the neighboring town of Bani Suhaila and in other northern areas of Khan Yunis.”

In more than five months of the current conflict, and following the Hamas attacks on October 7, around 31,300 people have already been killed by the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip — 72% women and children according to the local Ministry of Health controlled by Hamas — and another 73,000 were injured.
