Donald Trump’s campaign tried to devalue some of the most controversial phrases that the candidate uttered at a rally in Vandalia, in the state of Ohio, especially when he stated that, if he did not win the November 5 elections, the country would experience “a bath of blood”. For campaign spokesman Steven Cheung, Trump was talking about the impact of a second Biden term on the automotive industry and the economy in general.

“The dishonest Joe Biden and his campaign are creating a misleading and out-of-context montage,” said Cheung. Trump was promising to combat the Chinese auto industry’s plans to plant factories in Mexico by imposing customs duties. “Now, if I am not elected, it will be a bloodbath for everyone. This will be the minimum. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country,” he said.

In an indication that he was not just referring to the automobile industry, Trump said shortly afterwards that he was not sure that, if he were not elected, the next presidential election “would not [fossem] the latest” in the USA. “I think that if we don’t win, this country won’t have another election, or at least one with meaning,” he continued, before saying that November 5th is “the most important date in the history” of the United States.

The statements by the former president, whose team of lawyers has managed to postpone the start of four trials, led Joe Biden’s campaign to also respond with dramatization by accusing Trump of increasing “his threats of political violence”. Biden campaign spokesman James Singer said in a statement: “He [Trump] wants another January 6th, but the American people will hand him another electoral defeat in November because they continue to reject his extremism, his affection for violence and his thirst for revenge.”

Regarding the rhetoric against immigrants, there was no denial of words taken out of context. Trump dixit: “I don’t know if we can call them people. In some cases they are not people, in my opinion. But I’m not allowed to say that, because the radical left says that’s a terrible thing to say.”

In October, Trump had a tirade that led him to be compared to Hitler, when he stated that immigrants were “poisoning the blood” of the USA. The more than likely Republican candidate called the influx of immigrants “Joe Biden’s invasion”. The president has accused Trump of preventing the passage of bipartisan legislation for greater intervention at the southern border.

At a dinner in Washington, Biden responded: “One of the candidates is too old and mentally unfit to be president,” he said of the presidential race. “The other guy is me.”
