In providing these clarifications, Trump accused the media of deliberately taking his words out of context, saying: “The fake media made a big deal out of the words ‘bloodbath’, knowing that it was about the decline of the automobile industry.” . “They’re so bad!” Trump said on social media.

In a message addressed to his supporters to raise funds for his campaign, Trump called the Democratic party and the media “liars” and accused them of using “an edited video” to manipulate and distort his words.

The controversy arose last Saturday during a rally in Ohio, where Trump was speaking about his proposals to protect the automobile sector, when he uttered confusing words predicting a “bloodbath” in the country if he loses the next elections against the current president, Democrat Joe Biden.

“We’re going to put a tariff on every car that comes across the border and you won’t be able to sell it if I’m elected,” Trump said, continuing: “If I’m not elected, there’s going to be a bloodbath. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country”.

In the same interview, Trump suggested that some undocumented immigrants are not people, saying: “I don’t know if we can call them people. I think in some cases they are not people, but I can’t say that.”

Biden’s team reacted quickly, issuing a statement on Saturday calling Trump a “loser” and accusing him of wanting to repeat the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

“The American people will hand him another electoral defeat in November because the people continue to reject his extremism, his propensity for violence and his thirst for revenge,” the Democrats declared.

Trump’s statements provoked an intense debate in the media and on social networks on Sunday, between Democrats and Republicans, about whether he (when talking about a bloodbath) was referring only to the economy or whether his words went beyond that. .

Trump, who never conceded defeat to Biden in the 2020 presidential election, was accused of trying to overturn the election results four years ago and instigating the attack on the Capitol.
