Conservative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a supporter of former President Donald Trump, told the press that she presented the “motion to nullify” the adoption of the budget, supported by Johnson, which she considers “a betrayal of the American people” and “Republican voters “.

Although he did not establish a timetable for the impeachment vote, he considered it a “warning”, which fueled an internal battle between traditional conservatives and “Trumpists”.

“I have respect for him as a person, but he’s not doing his job,” said Greene, who believes lawmakers will be able to vote on Johnson’s future when they return from their Easter break in two weeks.

After approval in the Chamber of Representatives, the budget text now passes to the Senate, which has until midnight this Friday to approve it. Otherwise, there will be cuts in funds for public administrations and their consequent temporary closure, known as “shutdown”.

The law contemplates 1.2 billion dollars (around one billion euros) in financing.
Lawmakers usually reach a last-minute agreement, but this time they have already warned some authorities of a real risk of paralysis, given the uncertainty about the vote in the Senate.
“Let’s get the job done today,” urged Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
