Miguel Luna and Maynor Suazo are the face of this Tuesday’s early morning tragedy in Baltimore, USA. The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge after a cargo ship collided with a pillar of the structure caused people and cars to fall into the waters of the Patapsco River.Miguel Luna and Maynor Suazo were the first of the six workers from a construction team missing since the accident to be identified, according to the The DailyMail.
At the wrong time and in the wrong place, Miguel Luna, a 49-year-old Spanish father of six, was on the night shift working with the rest of the team when the bridge collapsed.

“They just tell us that we have to wait, that for now they can’t give us information. [Sentimo-nos] devastated, because our hearts are broken, because we don’t know if they have already rescued them. We’re just waiting for news,” Miguel’s wife, Maria del Carmen Castellon, told Telemundo 44.

Maynor Suazo, 37, from Honduras, was the second missing victim to be identified. Father of two children, an 18-year-old teenager and a five-year-old girl, he had lived in the United States of America for 18 years to improve his quality of life.

Two bodies were recovered and four people remain missing. Rescue teams have given up hope of finding survivors. The six presumed dead include workers from Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador, according to the Mexican Consulate in Washington.

Two people were rescued alive and five cars were located underwater.

It is recalled that the warning given by the ship’s crew allowed the North American authorities to avoid the deaths of more people with a quick operation to stop car traffic on the bridge.

“There is a ship approaching that has just lost its direction. Therefore, until we can control it, we have to stop all traffic”, can be heard in the audio revealed by the North American authorities.

Maryland governor Wes Moore called the operatives “heroes who saved lives.”
