UA norovirus outbreak infected more than 800 people at a spring festival in Stuttgart, southwest Germany, last weekend.

Visitors quickly complained of vomiting, nausea and diarrhea, reveals the BBC.

So far it is not known how the virus was spread, however, the number of infected people increased during the week, reaching 815 this Friday.

Stuttgart health authorities believe that the virus is not linked to the food or drink served in the Göckelesmaier tent, as the samples collected all gave negative results. Even so, the place was completely disinfected and has now reopened to the public.

The city’s health department therefore believes that the virus was transmitted from person to person, through the air.

The spring festival, on the banks of the River Neckar, started last Saturday and runs for 23 days, until May, with various activities and craft and food stalls.

According to the United Kingdom’s National Health Service, norovirus is highly infectious and resistant, causing various gastrointestinal conditions such as nausea, diarrhea and vomiting. The disease can also cause high fevers, headaches and pain in the limbs.
