Artists from Alegrete participate in the Arte nos Trilhos project at Trensurb in POA

An art composition moving through the metropolitan urban scene was presented on Friday (22) in Porto Alegre, by the Identidade de Rua project, from Instituto Troca de Ideias. Four visual artists painted graffiti on railway carriages in an action that reaches its fourth edition, with support from Trensurb, Caixa Econômica Federal and the Ministry of Culture. Past editions — in 2005, 2008 and 2011 — featured the work of male artists.

Bruna Rison, Jay Moraes, Sabrina Brum and Jamaikah Santarém, from Alegre, composed panels — each with one of the wagons in the composition as their canvas — on themes related to the current female condition.

“I chose owls and drew three little owls, which are my babies, to honor women, without distinction of race, color or life history. I also took up horticulture, which strengthened me in a difficult time”, said Sabrina.

“The train is part of hip hop culture, of the life of urban women”, added Bruna.

The ceremony took place in a festive atmosphere, with music and the presence of representatives from the political scene and civil society. The works of art were the backdrop to the scene that reflected everyday feelings and expectations.

“Now I can say that I will walk the line”, said Jamaikah. “The train carries hard-working, sensitive, fighting women from the outskirts,” she added.

“I tried to represent the fox, which is the protector of travelers. The women traveling on this train will leave their children at home and go under the protection of the fox. I am a single mother of two little ones who are waiting for me right now”, Jay pointed out, his voice shaking with emotion.

For the president of Instituto Troca de Ideias and coordinator of the Identidade de Rua project, Fabiana Menini, from Alegre, the decision to promote an edition with only female artists came about in order to strengthen the connection between female expressiveness and the sensitivity that graffiti messages convey. offer to the senses of Trensurb passengers.

“Women bring sensitivity and humanity in the way they transmit the message”, said Fabiana, one of the pioneers in supporting and disseminating hip hop culture in Porto Alegre.

The head of the Ministry of Culture office in Porto Alegre, Patrícia Affonso, highlighted the political aspect related to the action, mentioning the re-creation of the portfolio and the recomposition of a budget aimed at supporting initiatives such as this Friday’s.

“Trensurb remains public. Culture has returned to our daily lives”, added Trensurb’s Administrative and Financial Director, Vanessa Fraga da Rocha.
