HThere are 900 thousand Portuguese people with savings certificates, this being the financial product that grew the most, according to the Basef Banca study by Marktest.
“In the global wave of 2023, Marktest’s Basef Banca study counted 900 thousand holders of Savings Certificates, a value that corresponds to 10.9% of the universe made up of residents on the Continent aged 15 and over who have a bank account and who identify the bank(s) where they have an account”, a statement read.
According to the study, “this rate, which had remained relatively stable over the last five years, grew in 2022, but it was in 2023 that the biggest increase was observed, 63% compared to the previous year”.
Regarding the profile of subscribers to savings certificates, “social class is the variable that presents the greatest diversity of behavior, with individuals from the highest classes registering a value almost 70% above the average and 2.4 times the value of the classes lower.”
