Miguel Azevedo gave an interview last week to a podcast from ‘Nova Gente’ magazine and made some controversial statements.
When asked if he would “a duet” with Bruno de Carvalho, the singer replied: “Bruno de Carvalho is not a singer. (…) Bruno de Carvalho is an example that, in Portugal, everything is possible. Bruno was never in the music market and now, after BB, he launched himself. What is certain is that they hire him, invite him to parties, he is on the market”.
The subject was highlighted on the “TVI Extra” program this Monday, March 18th. Bruno de Carvalho reacted: “Firstly, when I joined Big Brother, I had three shows to give at the end of the year. Therefore, I didn’t need Big Brother to enter the music world. I don’t know how many shows Miguel had, I had three. And I already had several shows, which I had to delay, to get on Big Brother”, he began by saying.

“Point number two, explain that, for example, I was the author, composer, lyricist on what, for me, is one of the best albums that came out two years ago, which was Liliana’s album [Almeida], I arrived. Therefore, it is not a musician, it is a way of understanding what a musician is. Because it’s one thing if we’re not afraid to see our talents and give exposure to our talent, it’s another thing if we think that because you’re a DJ, you’re not in the category of musicians. Especially because, for many people, people who are in the pimba market are not very well regarded in the music world and Miguel has to remember that. That’s not my case, because I’ve gained a lot more respect since my great friendship with Jorge [Guerreiro]”, he added.
“Now, I’m a producer, I have a series of original songs produced by me, I’ll say it again, I’m a composer, I’m a lyricist. You have to be careful. I’m not really a singer, but I’d like to know how many singers have the luxury of having sung two songs and both being a hit.”, concluded the former president of Sporting.
Miguel Azevedo, who went live via Skype, defended himself: “Honestly, Bruno, I was completely unaware of your entire journey before BB, because I only knew that aspect of you after that. Yes, I praised your work and your courage to face the music market, ignoring and reemphasizing your previous career, but praising your dynamics and everything you managed to build after BB and even showing other people that They are in a market and they eventually want to launch that anything is possible.
