Jacques Costa, the first non-binary person to participate in ‘Big Brother’, has stood out in the most watched house in the country but has received, abroad, several “messages of hate” and also “of support and concern”.

Given the agitation that has been ‘felt’, the competitor’s team decided to issue a new statement on the Instagram page dedicated to her participation in the reality show.

“In the midst of all the messages of hate that we have been receiving, we have also received messages of support and concern. This statement serves to clarify some of the concerns that have been raised regarding Jacques’ stance on the game. Jacques that his friends and family know is a happy, charismatic, humble and empathetic person. Unfortunately, this is not what has passed beyond the screen”, they began by writing.

“It is important to recognize that although the topics addressed by Jacques are extremely important, perhaps the program is not the best space to expose these issues. There were several reasons that led the 20 competitors to participate in the program and we know that the reason that led to our Jacques running was the opportunity to promote empathy and awareness of these same topics”, they added.

“As a person interested in debating issues of importance to society, Jacques is always willing to listen to other people’s opinions, even if they don’t agree with her own. Because that’s the only way we can open up space for debate”, they continued .

“At this time, we wanted to ask you to join us in sending Jacques love and support. We will strive to create an environment of respect and empathy, both inside and outside the ‘Big Brother’ house,” they said, finally. .
