The State Network of Hemotherapy Services – Rede Hemo will operate during special hours during the Holy Week holiday. The initiative reinforces the need for blood donation, especially negative types A -, B -, O – and AB -, with the aim of guaranteeing the supply of the 223 health units served in Goiás.

The Hemo Network units in Goiânia (Hemocentro Coordinator Estadual de Goiás Prof Nion Albernaz) and in the interior (Catalão, Rio Verde, Ceres, Jataí, Formosa, Iporá, Porangatu and Quirinópolis) will operate this Thursday (28/03) for the donor service, from 8 am to 6 pm. For patients undergoing treatment in the capital, service will be from 7 am to 7 pm.

On Friday (29), all units will be closed. On Saturday (30), the Hemocentro, in Goiânia, will be open from 8 am to 12 pm, to serve donors and patients. Donations can be scheduled by calling 0800 642 0457 or via the website agenda.hemocentro.org.br.

According to the general director of Rede Hemo, Denyse Goulart, blood donation is a voluntary and altruistic gesture, which helps save lives.

“With the arrival of the long holiday, many people will take the opportunity to rest and visit family in other cities. And, with this increase in the flow of cars on the roads, there is also a greater number of accidents, which reflects the increased demand for blood and other blood components”, he highlights.

Donation requirements

Furthermore, Denyse emphasizes that it is important to be aware of the requirements for donating.

“Points of attention range from place and time for donation to illnesses or impeding situations. To donate blood, you must be healthy, weigh more than 50 kg, present a photo ID valid throughout the country and be between 16 and 69 years old, and before turning 18 you must have authorization from your parents or responsible”, explains the director.

Anyone who has received the yellow fever vaccine must wait 30 days to make a donation. For the flu vaccine, the deadline is 48 hours. In the case of the vaccine against the new coronavirus, you must wait 48 hours after the Coronavac dose, and seven days after applying the others.

Candidates for blood donation diagnosed or suspected of Covid-19 and who presented symptomatic disease will be able to donate 10 days after complete recovery. Volunteers who presented a positive diagnosis, but remained symptom-free, will be able to donate 10 days after the test collection date.

People who had contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19 during the transmissibility period will be able to donate blood seven days after their last contact.
