The Guarulhos Health Department carried out another physical fitness test with candidates for the position of community health agent and emergency vehicle drivers. In total, 31 candidates participated, 28 for the position of agent and three for vehicle drivers, these destined for the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu).

Agents are fundamental parts of the family health team. Currently, the City Hall has 742 employees in the area, with an average of four community agents per team.

An agent’s work is not restricted to visiting homes. These professionals disseminate information and prevention to the entire population assisted by the Family Health Strategy Program and are responsible for organizing community meetings to combat dengue.

During home visits, agents identify possible breeding grounds for the mosquito that transmits dengue fever, drawing residents’ attention to the most common types of breeding sites.

If outbreaks are identified, the situation is immediately communicated to the Zoonoses area (Health Surveillance division) so that the necessary measures can be taken.
