In order to raise awareness among students and families, schools in the municipality of Canela, EMEI Diva Pedroso da Cunha and Bertholdo Oppitz, carried out projects designed to combat and prevent Dengue, a disease caused by mosquitoes, last Friday (23). Aedes Aegypti.
The Municipal School of Early Childhood Education Diva Pedroso da Cunha, located in the Eugênio Ferreira neighborhood, decided to study awareness and prevention against Dengue with children from Pre I and Pre II in a different way. To begin the work carried out, the students researched the mosquito and what forms of prevention and care were available to avoid Dengue contamination.
As a way of concluding the project called ”Heroes against Dengue”, the children organized a ”Dengue Paradinha”, an activity where students handed out leaflets that they created together to cars that passed in front of the school, with all the information necessary to combat and prevent the disease.
The school director, Neli Vitencourt, explains how studies at the school involve the community and families: ”this week we carry out activities in the classroom about combating the dengue mosquito, we are concerned about our children and the community, that’s why We work on basic precautions to eliminate mosquitoes. Our main objective is also to involve families, wanting students to be multipliers, taking home what they learn in the classroom, so that we can put an end to this disease that is affecting national public health.
Dáqueman Chaulet Pimentel, Pre I teacher, together with her students Maria Judite Pimentel Oliveira and Livia dos Santos Cunha, also talk about how the project developed over the weeks and how it was designed and concluded: ”the objective of the work against dengue was the need for children to work at home on the importance of fighting mosquitoes. It was very interesting because we were using repellent and the children had doubts about why we were passing it on, and that was when the dengue mosquito arrived and the prevention project began. We start by studying the mosquito and its life cycle, then the precautions we must take to avoid mosquito contamination and finally the treatments. We work with the theme ”Heroes against Dengue”, where children are the heroes and heroines and take home this mission of raising awareness for their families, says the teacher.
The activity had the support of the Municipal Department of Traffic, Transport and Inspection, which stopped traffic at the time of the activity.
With the same intention of preventing Dengue, the Municipal School of Early Childhood and Elementary Education Bertholdo Oppitz, in the São Lucas neighborhood, carried out the project named ”Xô Dengue” with 1st year students, where, with the help of playful tools research was carried out on the development of the mosquito, such as its life cycle, habits and curiosities.
