Project forces laboratories to report effects of medicines on drivers

-

Bill 877/24 requires pharmaceutical laboratories to include, on medication labels, warnings about the risks of driving vehicles after ingesting the product, when applicable. The Chamber of Deputies analyzes the proposal.

According to the text, companies are obliged to inform consumers about side effects of medications that may interfere with the ability to drive motor vehicles, such as drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, slow reflexes, among others.

The project establishes that the information is legible and easy to understand, and can be presented in the form of text or symbols.

“By making this information accessible, medication users will be able to decide whether or not to drive after using medications, which contributes to reducing the number of traffic accidents”, argues deputy Juninho do Pneu (União-RJ) , author of the project.

Next steps
The project will be analyzed in conclusive character, by the Health committees; Consumer Protection; and Constitution and Justice and Citizenship.
