Hair loss: myths and truths about the influence that washing frequency can have

-

Some recommend washing only once or twice a week to maintain the health of your hair, while others prefer to wash it daily.

So, the question remains: does washing your hair significantly influence hair loss?

According to Samantha Stewart MIT, trichologist (a branch of dermatology dedicated to the study of diseases that can affect hair), the answer is not so simple.

The expert explains that the ideal washing frequency depends on several factors, including the type of scalp, hair type and condition, as well as each person’s lifestyle.

For those concerned about hair loss, Samantha states that «there is no direct connection between washing frequency and the amount of hair lost, other factors such as genetics, hormones, diet and stress are important».

The trichologist highlights that «although reducing the frequency of washing may seem to momentarily increase hair loss, in fact, this only reflects the normal rate of hair loss».

The specialist «emphasizes the need to wash your hair frequently to maintain the balance of the scalp and ensure the hydration necessary for the health of the strands».
