The City of Campinas (SP) confirmed, on Tuesday afternoon (18), four new deaths from dengue in the city this year. According to the Department of Health Surveillance (Devisa), the victims are three women and a man between 39 and 91 years old. See details:

  • Woman, 39 years old: served in the public network and living in the area covered by the União de Bairros Health Center (CS). She presented symptoms on February 24th and died on March 2nd. Serotype 2 infection was confirmed.
  • Woman, 91 years old: served in the private network of another municipality and resident in the area covered by CS Santo Antônio. She had symptoms on January 24th and died on January 30th. The serotype was not identified in the examination.
  • Man, 63 years old: served in the public network and resident in the area covered by CS Vista Alegre. He presented symptoms on March 8th and died on March 13th. Serotype 1 infection was confirmed.
  • Woman, 89 years old: served in the private network and resident in the area covered by CS Sousas. She had symptoms on March 10th and died on March 14th. Serotype 1 infection was confirmed.

According to data updated this Tuesday (2), Campinas has already had 36,808 confirmed cases of dengue.

“The Ministry regrets the deaths and sympathizes with the families. Furthermore, it reinforces the warning for residents of all regions to continue carrying out and collaborating with City Hall’s actions to prevent and combat the disease”, said the Health Department.

  • Breeding control: 254.3 thousand properties visited
  • Costal nebulization: 37.7 thousand properties visited
  • Vehicle fogging: coverage of 37.4 thousand properties
  • Active search + control of breeding sites: 49 thousand properties visited
  • Larval density assessment carried out by a community health agent: 27.1 thousand properties visited
  • Larval density assessment carried out by an environmental control support agent: 1,600 properties visited
  • Strategic points and special properties: 1,300 properties visited
