With the theme “Challenges and opportunities of integrated ILPF systems in Rio Grande do Sul”, the ILPF Caravan will travel through five municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, from April 15th to 19th. The promotion is by Rede ILPF with the support of Embrapa. The ILPF Caravan, a permanent project of the ILPF Network in partnership with Embrapa, focuses on the dissemination of Crop Livestock Forest Integration systems (ILPF), in the most diverse producing regions of Brazil, as a sustainable and profitable alternative for the country’s agriculture. In Rio Grande do Sul, the trip starts in Porto Alegre and continues through Bagé, Rosário do Sul, Ijuí and ends in Passo Fundo. During the journey there will be panel debates, field days, technical visits, in addition to the presentation of the ILPF Network project, showing the advantages and challenges of integrated production systems. The team that makes up the Caravan in Rio Grande do Sul is made up of professionals from member companies of the ILPF Network, researchers from Embrapa and regional supporting entities, such as SIPA, ABC/RS, CCGL, Emater/RS-ASCAR, Fundação Bradesco, Sia, Sebrae/RS, Rural Workers Unions, Rural Union of Ijuí, NOVA, Unijuí, UFRGS and Government of the State of RS. ILPF ILPF is an agricultural production technology with great potential for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and sequestering carbon by soil and biomass, crop diversification and increasing productivity. The implementation of ILPF systems varies according to the characteristics of each region. Brazil currently has 17.4 million hectares with some integration system. The ILPF Network aims to expand this area to 35 million hectares by 2030, in addition to diversifying production systems and increasing the representation of the forestry component in these systems. In RS and SC, integrated production systems are present in 85% of agricultural areas, totaling more than 1.4 million hectares. Associação Rede ILPF is a public-private partnership formed and co-financed by the companies Bradesco, Cocamar, John Deere, Minerva Foods, Soesp, Syngenta, Suzano, Timac Agro and Embrapa and its purpose is to contribute to increasing productivity in a sustainable way in agriculture.
