Montes Claros, São João da Ponte and Taiobeiras are being covered by the Ministry of Health (MS) with the provision of R$ 6.4 million for the construction of three new Basic Health Units (UBSs). The temporary increase in Primary Health Care (PHC) services in 13 municipalities that make up the North Health macro-region will receive a contribution of more than R$7 million, arising from parliamentary amendments.

For the construction of new UBSs, Ordinance 3,617, published on 4/23, formalizes an investment of R$2.4 million for Montes Claros. For São João da Ponte and Taiobeiras, around R$2 million is being allocated for each location.

The MS ordinance defines that “the resources will be released in a single installment to the municipalities, which will periodically report on the progress of the works. Accountability must be carried out through an Annual Management Report (RAG), approved by the municipal health councils”.

This April, the MS launched new models of Basic Health Units, polyclinics, maternity wards, natural birth centers and Samu regulation centers. “The projects present optimized work environments, with a strategic approach to improve the provision of services in the Unified Health System (SUS) and, thus, seek better efficiency standards in the implementation of public policies. They also aim at the intelligent use of resources and the establishment of welcoming spaces for both beneficiaries and health professionals”, points out the MS.
