The PS once again defended that the PSD “has no legitimacy” to continue governing the Region and that there must be early elections. For Cafôfo, the political crisis in Madeira “was not resolved” with the legislative elections held on March 10, nor did the results of the electoral act “legitimize” the PSD/CDS-PP regional executive.

The leader of PS Madeira, Paulo Cafôfo, this Wednesday accused the president of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, of wanting to make Madeirans and Porto Santos “fools”. The socialist leader once again defended that the PSD “has no legitimacy” to continue governing the Region and that there must be early elections.

For Cafôfo, the political crisis in Madeira “was not resolved” with the legislative elections held on March 10, nor did the results of the electoral act “legitimize” the PSD/CDS-PP regional executive.

In the legislative elections, the AD (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM) won in terms of votes and mandates and in Madeira it was the PSD/CDS-PP coalition that triumphed in terms of votes and mandates, keeping the three deputies, while the PS lost one mandate and Chega elected a deputy, a first for the Region’s constituency.

“The PPD-PSD leadership continues to have to be held accountable in court and, from Miguel Albuquerque, we continue to wait for him to ask for the waiver of immunity, as he promised the Madeirans and Porto Santos. What does Miguel Albuquerque fear? What are you afraid of?” asked the socialist leader.

The leader of PS Madeira said that there is a legal process “in progress that has just begun, which is very far from being finished and which the national legislatures have not erased”, which involves Miguel Albuquerque and Pedro Calado, who “continue to have to respond in court for corruption crimes.”

Cafôfo stressed that the legislative elections, on March 10, elected the next national Government and “did not give a vote of confidence to the PSD and Miguel Albuquerque”.

The socialist also recalled what Albuquerque said about António Costa, when he said that “with the accused minister and his own chief of staff detained, it was becoming very difficult for the prime minister to continue governing”. ” as a problem” to continue leading a party.

“Miguel Albuquerque is a defendant, suspected of corruption crimes. Miguel Albuquerque defends one thing and the opposite, depending on his interests,” said Cafôfo.
