The Chega councilor at the Azambuja Chamber accused this Wednesday, March 13, through a video broadcast on social media, the president of that municipality, Silvino Lúcio (PS), of using offensive language when he has no arguments to respond to. . Inês Louro, who was once mayor elected by the Socialist Party in the same municipality, refers to three “extremely serious” and “very unpleasant” acts carried out by Silvino Lúcio in public meetings of the municipal executive that were broadcast over the Internet.

The first dates back to August 2023 with the mayor of the Socialist Party making the following comment: “you have a good tongue. She makes her living with her mouth”. An expression he used again at the last extraordinary public meeting held on March 5th. At the last ordinary one, which took place on Tuesday, March 12th, during the discussion of a proposal, Silvino Lúcio said that the Chega councilor was “very excited ”.

“These expressions have a sexual connotation and with this the president clearly wanted to offend me due to the lack of arguments and political capacity to respond to me with education and elevation as is his duty. I wanted to humiliate myself, whether as a woman, as a mother, as a daughter, or as a lawyer and councillor”, she states in the video where she asks her followers to pay attention to “the shame that goes on in meetings of the Chamber’s executive of Azambuja”.

The lawyer by profession, who was head of the list for the Azambuja Chamber for the first time in the last municipal elections, takes this type of attitude to a gender issue: “I have never heard the mayor address any other opposition councilor in these models, male councilor because female opposition councilor is just me”.

Mayor of the municipality denies bad intentions

Contacted by O MIRANTE, the mayor of Azambuja says he did not do “no offensive comments” to the Chega councilor. “In your professional activity, you say that you are a lawyer and as such it is my understanding that you make your living through this profession with your mouth. Far be it from me to give any other interpretation of the words”, she says, highlighting that the Portuguese language can be “very treacherous”.

Silvino Lúcio also says that he had the “humility to apologize for any inconvenience” that his words may have caused the “lady in question”.
