During the month of February, Animal Rescue Algarve (ARA) received several visits, strengthening ties with the community and promoting animal welfare.

On Thursday, February 29, PAN representatives, led by Saul Rosa, paid a visit to the Shelter. In addition to personally witnessing the high standards of animal care, the visit provided an opportunity to raise questions about animal welfare, a topic often neglected in mainstream politics.

Unir – Association of Mentally Ill Families and Friends of the Algarve, a partner of ARA, brought some of its users for a lively visit to the shelter. The activity included meeting the animals and enjoying outdoor activities. Social work interns from the University of Algarve were also present to support the initiative.

The “Verdades Escondidas” Association of Olhão invited ARA to visit its community center, providing elderly residents with a moment to interact with the shelter’s dogs. The support of social service interns from the University of Algarve was fundamental to the success of the visit, who also organized lectures to introduce ARA to students, on three different occasions.

The presence of the dogs and ARA merchandising made the event even more engaging.

These community visits not only strengthen ties between ARA and the community, but also highlight the association’s commitment to promoting animal welfare and social inclusion.
