A 49-year-old woman was arrested after causing disturbances on a flight, forcing the plane to return to Lisbon, and attacking several police officers at Humberto Delgado airport.

The case dates back to March 12th, the PSP Lisbon Metropolitan Command reveals this Friday, in a statement sent to newsrooms.

Without revealing the airline or destination of the flight in question, PSP explains that the passenger, residing abroad, was “apparently drunk and had already caused disturbances on board by harassing other passengers”.

It was also “physically aggressive towards cabin crew, putting flight safety at riskwhich is why the crew had to divert the flight to Lisbon, so that the passenger could be removed from the aircraft”.

Already out of the plane, the woman “continued to utter insults to the other passengers present and the crew” and refused to present his identification document.

Then, she repeatedly pushed the police officer who was warning her and “he kicked him in the genital area and right leg, also trying to attack another police officer with a kickcontinuing to utter offensive words”, says the PSP.

The woman ended up being detained by the Airport Security and Border Control Division on suspicion of committing crime of aggression and offenses against the physical integrity of public authorities.

A defendant was constituted and provided identity and residence form for not living in Portugal. She was already present at the Lisbon Criminal Court – Petty Crime Section, but the trial was postponed to a later, undisclosed date.
