She is certainly one of the oldest women in Minho. Today, March 15, 2024, the community of Cabanelas celebrates an extraordinary milestone: Dona Maria da Silva Oliveira celebrates her remarkable 108 springs.
Witness to times of change and challenges, his life spanned important historical periods, from the establishment of the republic, the two world wars, to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Born in times of transformation, Dona Maria dedicated her life to working in agriculture, an occupation that shaped her existence and made her a respected figure.
At the age of 27, she gave a new direction to her journey, getting married and starting a family, becoming the mother of eight children, three of whom remain by her side today. She also has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On this special day, as Maria da Silva Oliveira celebrates her birthday, the community unites in gratitude for a life full of memorable moments of love, hoping that this date is just another chapter in a story filled with memorable moments. Congratulations Mrs Maria, God’s blessing be with you”, says Father Dayakar Reddy, parish priest of Cabanelas, who made the celebration so significant.
