Luís Oliveira and Maria Inácia Romão were two of the 27 traders who this year did not pay for their license renewal in time to maintain their tents and awnings. Because they did not receive, or received late, the warning letter from the Municipality of Marinha Grande, the traders saw their licenses expired and, as the current regulation does not provide for the application of late payment interest, they have no choice but to request a new one. license, with fees associated with the assessment of the process, or withdraw advertising, under penalty of being fined.
The situation caused outrage among traders, CDU councilors and independent councilors elected by the PS, for whom everything would be easier to resolve if there was “common sense”.
Aurélio Ferreira, president of the municipality, who used information from the council’s legal services, explained that it is not possible to reverse the situation, and will therefore forward the matter to the Municipal Assembly for consideration.
