Alcanena Walking Festival planted around 280 trees in Baldio do Serrado

-

The Alcanena Walking Festival promoted on March 17th, in Casais Robustos, an action to plant native forest species. With 20 participants, around 280 trees were planted in Baldio do Serrado, of different species, such as the cerquinho oak, fagínea oak, strawberry tree and stone pine.

“The selection of these species took into account their ability to adapt to the region, in terms of soil and climate conditions. The region’s limestone soils, which are cooler, provide the conditions for the successful survival of planted species that are more resistant to fire and are a good option for planting in protected areas close to homes”, indicated the municipality, in a statement. press.

This reforestation action, with the planting of resistant and endogenous species, intended to “leave a legacy in the territory, in this case in particular, contributing to the preservation and improvement of the natural space and also to the mitigation of the risk of rural fire”.
