Foreign students from the Professional School of Moimenta da Beira received at the City Hall: Gazeta Rural

The president of the Municipal Council of Moimenta da Beira, Paulo Figueiredo, and the rest of the Executive, received this Wednesday, March 20th, in the Salão Nobre of the Paços do Concelho, the 41 foreign students (from Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe) who are attending the 1st year at the Moimenta da Beira Professional School, based in Quinta do Ribeiro, in Vila da Rua.

The session began with the intervention of Hugo Bondoso, Councilor for Education, who welcomed the students and addressed the challenges and new opportunities that they will experience over the next three years.

Olga Anciães, General Director of the Professional School, took the opportunity to thank the internal teachers who accompany foreign students between the ages of 15 and 19, stating: “Our teachers, in addition to teaching, have been friends and parents, especially for these students. who need support because they are far from their families and their countries”.

To introduce people to the islands of Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe, two students gave a brief presentation on the history, culture and gastronomy of the two African countries. There was also the recitation of a poem and a musical moment.

Finally, Paulo Figueiredo congratulated the arrival of these students to the municipality of Moimenta da Beira. “I am very pleased to welcome you here. We really want you to be happy in this territory, in your school with the support of the management structure, but also with your teachers. May Moimenta da Beira be your second home and currently your first home”, said the mayor-president.
