After the tangential triumph against Greece, last Wednesday, Portugal’s under-19s now beat Serbia, in this case 4-1, in a game counting towards qualification for the European Championship of the category in question, which will be played in the summer in Northern Ireland.

With this result, the Portuguese team just needs to draw with Denmark in the last round to hold on to first place and be present in the competition that they won in 2018.

In a match played in Aveiro, José Lima’s team did not give their Serbian counterpart much of a chance. Thus, Vivaldo Semedo, a striker who is on loan from Udinese to Volendam, opened the scoring in the 26th minute, and, in the first half, striker Rodrigo Ribeiro doubled the Portuguese advantage.

In the second half, Vivaldo Semedo scored again in the 59th minute, before Manuel Mendonça made the score 4-0 in the 70th minute. The best Serbia managed was to reduce it to 4-1 in stoppage time, but this did not undermine the effectiveness of the Portuguese triumph.

The game with Denmark, which will be played in Coimbra, is scheduled for 3pm on Tuesday.
