In the words of centrists, “the rural sector, in its various spheres, has an increased importance in this region that is not always valued and promoted by the government structure. Support for investment, sector improvement and entrepreneurship in rural development is limited in supply and support. In an era where the concept of sustainability prevails, we believe that rural development can contribute, to a large extent, to a more sustainable region and territory. AGRO is an example that the rural world continues to play an important and indispensable role in economic recovery and growth”.

Altino Bessa, president of the CDS Council and municipal councilor, states that AGRO has always been and will continue to be a kind of “ode” to the agricultural sector and to all those who invest in it, despite limited state support. “I must emphasize that AGRO has played a fundamental role in raising awareness about the valorization of rural heritage. In these four days of fair and/or exhibition, rural agents, through the various conferences included in the program, are invited to reflect on their respective territories and apply original strategies for sustainable and quality development, focused on new ways of valuing the natural and cultural heritage and strengthening the economic environment, namely, contributing to the creation of jobs and improving the organizational capacity of rural communities”, said the centrist.

“This training and entrepreneurial aspect leads us to look at the rural world as a sector of opportunities for the future. It is an undeniable fact that the Central Government does not encourage or support inter-territorial and transnational cooperation as a privileged way of disseminating and transferring innovative and successful experiences, enabling joint projects and stimulating collaborative relationships between rural community territories. We consider it imperative to support family farming, the development of quality products and the enhancement of the environment and rural heritage. AGRO is part of the municipality’s identity and memory. Proof of this was the beautiful chronological exhibition that we were able to view in this edition. A wall filled with so many memories, since the 1st edition of this fair. These were days where the past and the future crossed paths because we saw the sector as fundamental to the future of the country and the younger generations. We also intend to highlight the solidarity aspect of this 56th edition of AGRO through the ‘AGRO Loves Ukraine’ initiative. Thank you to all the visitors who contributed to this cause”, added Altino Bessa.
