The cafe had already closed, but one of the customers demanded to be served. The 44-year-old owner refused and was attacked with a knife. Two suspects in the attack, aged 18 and 23, were arrested by the Southern Directorate of the Judiciary Police (PJ) and are accused of committing the crime of attempted homicide.

The crime took place on Friday night, in Bordeira, in Faro. According to the CM found, the origin of the violent aggression were futile reasons, related to the refusal of the victim, owner of the Bordeirense café, to serve drinks to one of the attackers after the commercial establishment’s closing time.

The suspect went to call a friend and the two attacked the businessman using a knife. The victim was rescued by INEM and had to undergo surgery at Faro Hospital.

The GNR was alerted and one of the attackers was located by soldiers from this security force around 24 hours after the attack, having been detained out of the act by the PJ, which was called to investigate the crime.

The second suspect, who is from the same family as the first, was arrested following investigative measures carried out by the PJ. The two detainees were presented to a criminal investigation judge and will await trial in pre-trial detention.
