Azambuja station elevators repaired in summer

The Azambuja City Council finally saw Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) respond to its requests regarding the operation of the elevators at the Azambuja train station, which are constantly out of order, causing major inconvenience, especially for people with reduced mobility.

According to the Azambuja municipality, IP reported that “is committed to promptly resolving situations where elevators are unavailable,” regretting, however, that the majority of faults are due to “acts of vandalism or inappropriate use”

IP announces that it is “develop elevator renovation and modernization actions on the Northern Line”, which includes the modernization of equipment at the Azambuja station.

The public company therefore expects work to begin in June, with an expected duration of four weeks.

The renovation and improvement intervention of Azambuja elevators will include the complete replacement of the electrical and electronic control/installation, cabin doors, landing doors, floor, ceiling and lighting, with the aim of ensuring better operating conditions, greater durability and reliability of equipment”, announces the IP.
