Transavia, a low-cost airline from the Air France-KLM Group, plans to transport 3 million passengers on routes to/from Portugal this year, which corresponds to an increase of 7% compared to 2023.

“For flights to/from Portugal, our expectations could not be better for the entire year 2024”, said Nicolas Hénin, executive vice-president of Sales and Marketing at Transavia France, quoted in a statement.

Contributing to this forecast of growth in passenger numbers is Transavia’s new seasonal route between Faro (Portugal) and Nice (France) and the use of new A320neo aircraft, which the company guarantees are “more efficient”. Click to read: Transavia will connect Faro and Nice in the summer.

“Portugal should be, once again, one of the markets with the best performance for Transavia’s operations to and from France, but also to and from the Netherlands and Belgium, highlights the press release.

The statement highlights that last year “was marked by the strong recovery of travel worldwide and, thus, Transavia managed to robustly increase its offer to/from historic markets, including Portugal, a market that experienced an occupancy rate of 92 %”.

In Portugal, Transavia is operating 21 routes this winter and will operate 23 in summer, between 10 destinations in France, the Netherlands and Belgium and five Portuguese airports, namely Lisbon, Porto, Funchal, Faro and Ponta Delgada.

“With an occupancy rate higher than last year, Transavia has very good prospects for Portugal in 2024 and is confident that destinations such as Porto and Lisbon – served by Paris-Orly, respectively, seven and five times a day – will continue to be at the top of our customers’ preferences”, concludes the press release.
