Lara Luís (CDRSantanense), Rodrigo Catanho (CD 1º de Maio), Guilherme Freitas (CSJuventude de Gaula) and Marta Fernandes (ADR Ponta Delgada), are the names of the Madeirans who will represent the national colors in the Fencing World Championship, which will take place from April 10th in Rhyad, Saudi Arabia.
The Madeiran athletes will be the only Portuguese who will represent the country in this world tournament, in the foil weapon, in a competition that will feature around 150 shooters per weapon and more than 50 countries from several continents, says the Madeira Fencing Association.
The athletes will be accompanied by coaches Ricardo Catanho and Peter Csaky. For these young fencers from Madeira, this will be their first participation in a world fencing championship, continuing the various international experiences they have already had, says AERAM.
